I have a Gigaset S795 house phone system. All of a sudden it

I have a Gigaset S795 house phone system. All of a sudden it has stopped working. It no longer shows incoming caller number, simply says 'external', but more importantly as soon as I try and answer a call or make a call it goes 'connection lost'. We have had various calls since this started yesterday, but none are showing as missed calls and there are no new messages, which is strange. Can you advise on what to do please?
