my canon mp810 is not printing. all the cartridges have been replaced

michelleclive :

Hi, My name is XXXXX XXXXX i will be assisting you

michelleclive :

please let me know that didyou try printing a test page

michelleclive :

and does that print or comes out as a blank page

Customer: yes, it did notprint. comes out as a blank page
michelleclive :

ok

michelleclive :

please take out the cartridges and turn off printer and unplug power cord of printer

Customer: OK, will do. wait a sec
michelleclive :

now with a cotton swab and alcohol clean the golden contacts of the cartridge

michelleclive :

also clean the nozzles

michelleclive :

also shake the cartridge a bit and in case any excess ink comes out wipe with a cotton swab

michelleclive :

once done turn on and reinsert cartridge and try printing a test page

michelleclive :

let me know if there is any difference or not

Customer: can you wait 15 minutes. I need tpo go out and buy some alcohol
michelleclive :

do you have anything like maybe a perfume at home

michelleclive :

or whisky

michelleclive :

a drop or 2 of that would help

michelleclive :

if you dont have simply clean with a cotton swab

Customer: i am now backand trying it out
michelleclive :

ok sure

Customer: sorry some one has jsut rung the bell. will be 10 minutes. can you hang on?
michelleclive :

yes sure

Michelle :

were you able to try the steps igave

Customer: hi, I am back. which are the nozzles on this printer it just seems to have felt pads on the cartridgfes
Michelle :

nozzles are there on the printhead from where the ink comes out

Customer: ok
Michelle :

ok

Customer: It sill does not print. I do not think the nozzles etc is the problem, The test pattern prints ok except the PGBK catridge
Michelle :

in that case we would need to run an head cleaning

Customer: shall i do that now?
Michelle :

the reason i asked you to clean the nozzles manually was to ensure that there is no ink deposit clogging it from outside

Customer: but why do I do this when the test patern is aminly OK?
Michelle :

now insert cartridges back in a press home button

Michelle :

press maintainence

Michelle :

select cleaning...once done press home again..maintainence...deep cleaning

Customer: maintenance is not on the lcd screen. But I can access it from my PC
Michelle :

ok then you may right click on printer icon..printer properties..maintenance\advanced tab

Michelle :

then under head cleaning run the head cleaning and deep cleaning

Customer: Do I do cleaning first. THEN deep cleaning?
Michelle :

yes

Michelle :

cleaning first followed by deep cleaning

Customer: i am doing it now
Michelle :

ok

Customer: its finished but it still does not print
Michelle :

right click on printer icon..printer properties

Michelle :

print test page

Michelle :

does anything come up on test page or its totally blank

Customer: i cannot find print test page
Michelle :

right click on printer icon...

Michelle :

printer properties

Michelle :

then you can see print test page option

Customer: still blank
Michelle :

ok

Michelle :

now from the printer panel press home maintainence

Michelle :

then press nozzle check pattern

Customer: As I said before I have doen that and the pattern is fine excpet for PGBK which does not print at all
Michelle :

yes but i would like you to print a nozzle check right now after we have run the cleaning

Michelle :

to check if its just pgbk or anything else that has gone missing or come back

Customer: all still Ok but no PGBK
Customer: No changer from before
Michelle :

ok

Michelle :

now on the printer screen you will see options all a

Michelle :

and also b

Michelle :

do you see that

Customer: yes
Michelle :

select also b option

Customer: OK
Michelle :

select yes and the press ok

Michelle :

it will run a cleaning to adjust the print settings

Customer: its doing it
Michelle :

once its done, print a test page and check

Michelle :

let me know the status once done

Customer: still no change OK test pattern but no PGBK. It sesm to do it quickly - is that OK?
Michelle :

it seems an issue with the printehead being clogge dinternally

Michelle :

give me a moment

Michelle :

let me check for the options

Michelle :

as per all the steps we have taken it seems to be a problem of a internally clogged printhead

Michelle :

now in such cases usually the printhead would need to be replaced

Michelle :

however, as an intermediate step, my suggestion would be to try a printhead cleaning kit

Michelle :

let me search one for you

Michelle :

give me a minute please

Customer: thank you
Michelle :

ok here below is the link for one available at ebay

Michelle :

you may try this first

Michelle :

in most of the cases this should fix the problem

Michelle :

however in case it doesnot then printhead would need to be replaced

Michelle :

is thsi printer within warranty

Customer: No it is about 6 years old. If the cleaning kit does not work, whatwould I do next?
Michelle :

then a printhead replacement would be the final step

Michelle :

this link has a repalcement printhead listed on ebay for your reference

Michelle :

rest as its 6 years old and printhead replacements are costly, you may consider going in for a new printer as well

Customer: How much would that cost? or should I buy a new printer. I ahve about 5 cartridges left which i gues cost about £50. I am in the UK
Michelle :

the link i gave you is listing the printhead cost of about 90$

Michelle :

and a new printer would come in maybe a little bit mlore cost

Michelle :

as per me it would be wiser to go in for a new printer

Michelle :

you may try the printhead cleaning kit which is around 15$

Customer: Sounds like it is not worth doing?
Michelle :

but if that does not fix it, i would suggets to go in for a new printer

Customer: Ok. I guess that is teh end of the line for now??
Michelle :

yes unfortunately as we have worked on it and it is a hardware fault with the head, i can only suggest replacement options and in addition what would be most cost effective

Michelle :

let me know if you have any questions

Customer: Ok. thanks for your help. You did try hard
