Epson XP 405
I keep getting the error message - Paper Jam - and the machine is inoperable (just stuck)
There is no paper jammed - so how do I get out of the problem
Problem No 2 - It would seem the black print head is blocked. My plan is to insert a new cartridge - but I am unable to access the carrier because of the above problem,

I was overjoyed when first sheet started to print but woe befall me on reading the letter to find that every alternate line was skipped (Not printed) - Never daunted I tried a second sheet (assuming the first to be a hicky) - but the wretched machine resumed the Paper Jam error message. I am now considering a large box of Aspirins as a possible solution to my ills.

Please keep trying - I have every faith in you

ok, open the flap that you open to put the ink cartridges in Peter.
Check there for any paper, no matter how small it is, as this can be triggering the sensor.
Are you 100% sure there are no pieces wedge in anywhere? No matter how small?

How do I get the colours to move along the carriage.

Sorry to be such a dick-head

Your not at all being one Peter!!
It should move automatically, if not try to budge it with your hand. Does this move it over?

I have decided to throw the rotter away.

Buy a new one - pity really as it is the third XP 405 I have had.

I think Hewlett Packard is the boy for me.

Thanks for your infinite patience

I have ticked the Excellent icon

It will be a faulting sensor or print head and unless it is under warranty Peter, it would be better to replace it.
