I am not very technical and get flustered very easily but I Googled the HP manual and thought I followed their advice but to no effect, the blue light just blinks

Can you please turn off the printer remove the power to the printer unplug it from the power socket.

Then wait 10 minutes,
connect the power again to the printer,
turn it on and tell me please if it is now operating correctly.

10mins up, reconnected power, blue light still blinking

I would first like you to do this please.

Step 1: Restart your Router, if you already try this, please proceed to step 2

Remove the power cable from the back of your Router for 60 seconds, then plug it back in. After approximately 2 minutes the lights on the Router should settle into a stable pattern.

If restarting your Router didn’t work, go to the next step.

Step 2: Check your Router's internet connection

Check whether your Router’s Internet light is on/blinking. If it is on, you have an internet connection. Go to the next step.

If it is off:

Check that the cable connecting your Router/router to your wall socket equipment is securely plugged in at each end

Restart your Router

Step 3: Check your WiFi connection

If you are connecting to the internet via WiFi, try the following steps.

Check that WiFi is on:

Check your WiFi light. If it’s off, turn your Router’s WiFi button on

Make sure your computer / device also has WiFi turned on

Reset the connection:

Turn your Router and your computer off and leave them off for 60 seconds

Turn both devices back on and allow a few minutes for them to reconnect

Connect via ethernet cable

Use an ethernet cable to connect your computer directly to your Router, then test your internet connection

If you can connect via ethernet, you have identified an issue with your WiFi setup. See your Router user guide for help with your WiFi connection.

I have done all this of the above to no effect
Customer: replied 12 days ago.
Except the Ethernet as I can’t find my cable

Please, unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.

Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.

Restart your computer. In the connection window, choose “wireless” and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup.

The only connection to the printer is a power line with a purple connection unlike anything I can recall and nothing like the USB I have seen before

I have set up an account with HP smart, my printer is recognised BUT even though my printer is on, each time I press “refresh” it tells me it is offline and when I click on this it tells me “the printer must be turned on” WHICH IT IS. I HAVE JUMPED THROUGH THIS LOOPED HOOP AT LEAST TWICE.
