i own a two bed flat which i have rented out for over ten years

Customer Question

i own a two bed flat which i have rented out for over ten years and to various tenants with no problems. in the last year it is let to a philapino couple who have recently complained there is a mold problem. i sent some one round to investigate and they have reported back to say that the mold is in every room on every wall due to lack of ventilation as there was no signs of leaks or damp. the flat has recently been double glazed and has new extractor fans in kitchen and bathroom and was refurbished prior to these new tenants moving in. all rooms have large sunny aspect windows. it was also noted by the work man that the bedrooms were not being used as bedrooms but had piles of washing in them and that there were also two small children living there that we knew nothing about and the family were all sleeping in the lounge on the floor. they want the flat redecorated by next week or they threaten to go to health and enviroment.there has never been any issues with mold by previous tenants.

Thank you for your question and welcome to Just Answer.

Are these tenants on assured short hold tenancies?

Do you believe their use of the flat is causing the damp?

Kind regards
