And, re administration errors over the deposit protection scheme....what are courts currently awarding in terms of multiples, so that I can judge how well matched to current practice my request is?

Yes, in respect of the deposit, the LL registered it:

Late (in excess of 2 months) so well outside the 30 days,

And mis-stated the date he received it,

And failed to register an interested party,

Failed to provide the certificate & PI to tenants within required time,

Failed to provide the certificate &PI to interested party at all.

Do you know, with current court claims what a judge may typically award bearing in mind it can be between 1 and 3 times?

I would claim x3
That is because the judge can always award lower than your claim but never higher than the claim.
