Commercial Lease: - I took over a 25 year lease in April

Commercial Lease : -
I took over a 25 year lease in April 2016 which has 5 years remaining. According to the lease the rental review should had been March 2016. Recently, July 2016
the landlord has sent me a letter stating he has increased the rent by about 20% and asked me to return a signed letter confirming i has received this letter, which has not been returned yet. The rent when i took over the lease was £48000 and now increasing to £62000.
Questions are:
1) Can the landlord give me notice of increase rent 4 months after the review date. (march 2016) ?
2) Can the landlord increase rent by any % they like ?
3) Should I contact the landlord (director) by email/phone/letter asking him if we can negotiate the rent increase. What if they says no, then what ?
4) If the landlord invoices me the outstanding rent front march 2016, do i need to pay ?

Does the lease have a formula regarding how an increase is calculated?
