I left my ex wife on September 2012 and was forced out of

Customer Question

Good morning. I left my ex wife on September 2012 and was forced out of our marital home due to her trying to kill me with a knife and cutting me with broken glass. I continued paying the mortgage to Oakwood homes hoping that I would get the house back minus her. After a long battle and not getting anywhere, my solicitor told me to stop paying the mortgage and get the house reprocessed. Once this happened, which basically forced her out, she damaged the house internally and externally to make it hard to sell, which I have photo evidence. Optima Legal have now sent me a letter demanding liability balance of £10,481.29 for their client Oakwood. I am now in a management depth plan with Angel Advance and don't have the funds to pay this. However with me not living there and my ex wife causing the damage, I don't agree I should pay this. Can you advise my best options please as I am very worried about this, as I know my ex won't do anything with her letter? Thanks Adrian

Has there been a final financial Order within the Divorce Proceedings?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Hi Clare. Sorry for my ignorance. If you mean sharing any finances and things within the house, the answer would be no as she legged it with all my personal belongings before I could collect anything. Over the time I've not lived there I have paid in the region of over £12000 to Oakwood. In this time she hasn't contributed anything. Regards Adrian

Why did your solicitor give you such strange advice regarding the house?

Why did you not just sell it?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Since then I have seen other solicitors who have basically said the same, as this isn't the first bit of bad advice he gave me. He has now done a runner with the money I paid and disconnected his mobile. What can I do? My ex wife purposely destroyed the house and I have a bill telling me I owe them 10k. Surely there is something I can do? Thanks Adrian

Where is your ex now?

I don't know. However I do think Oakwood Homes have her new address on their files.
