My landlord wants me to pay rent insurance that wasn't included with the tenancy back in May 2016. Still got 2 months left on the tenancy. Do I still have to take out the insurance although I'm always up to date with my rent? Cheers.

No you don't. If your tenancy ends in 2 months and assuming it is an assured shorthold tenancy then your landlord will be able to evict you after 2 months without needing to give a reason.
