I have received a letter to say the free holder has died, the free hold has been passed onto a family member. Is this allowed without the free hold being offered to leaseholders?
Assistant: The Property Solicitor's require payment for their services. It's way less expensive on JustAnswer than face-to-face would cost.
Customer: Okay. I need to discuss this with my husband
Assistant: Where are you located? It matters because laws vary by location.
Customer: London
Assistant: Has anything been filed or reported?
Customer: Nothing. Only the letter advising me of the change
Assistant: Anything else you want the solicitor to know before I connect you?
Customer: I think the free holder owns the lease to 2 flats

I am afraid that this is allowed as it is part of the freeholder's estate. The new freeholder has inherited the freehold by will. This is perfectly appropriate and under such circumstances would not be offered to you as a leaseholder.
