Hello, I'm TV Tech1 and I'll be working with you to identify and help you resolve your problem.

It does depend on the model and age of your TV set.

Older TV models didn't pass the HDMI audio over to the TV's optical output, but only allowed either the Tuner or some of the Scart/RCA audio to pass over to the Optical audio connection.

2010 models started passing all inputs over to the optical output, and that's usually the ones you find on all soundbars. Before that, you had to connect the optical and the older RCA audio jacks to the soundbar and switch the soundbar's input setting between the two, depending on what you were watching on TV.

I don't see the older RCA inputs as a second input on your TV set. Did you only get ONE optical input on that model? If so, the TV has to be a lot newer than 2010, and we need the TV's model number to see if that will work with your TV set, and the Blu Ray, and Sky box+ units altogether.

Hello, my name is Rusty. Your last tech seems to be offline. I can help you get your system running.

First, let's connect your Sky box to your TV. Connect the screw in coax cable from your Sky box output to your TV.

Next, let's connect your DMP-BD79. Use an HDMI cable, and connect the output of your BD79 to your TV's HDMI 1.

You should now be able to view both devices on your TV. Use the AV button on your remote control. Press it repeatedly to choose TV or HDMI 1. Some model TVs require that you select the input, then press OK (Enter) to select it. Your Sky box will show on TV, your BD79 will show on HDMI 1.

Now to get your sound bar working. Use an optical cable with the square (ish) ends. Plug one into your soundbar, and the other into your TV's digital audio output.

To get your sound bar working, first select the optical input. If you're not hearing anything, it's because we need to activate your TV's optical audio output. Go into your TV's menu, and go to the audio menu by using the down arrow. Press the right arrow to access that menu. Scroll down to SP/DIF, and make sure it is set to Auto.

Your system should be working at this point. Please let me know if there is anything that isn't working, and we'll adjust accordingly.
