Dear Technician, Panasonic DMR-EX769EB has stopped recording

This answer was rated:

Dear Technician, Panasonic DMR-EX769EB has stopped recording - channel guide has no channels or programmes and it won't record if I just press the record button either. It will play programmes I've already recorded. The manual is double-dutch to me - I'm 70 and was blonde before grey! Have I pressed something by mistake? I have that checked the connections are all tight. Hope you can help! Vita

It appears the firmware has crashed so we will start by resetting this.
Under the flap on the player itself you see the Channel UP and Channel DOWN buttons.
Hold both of these in seconds, then release.
This should then start the reset process on the player.
Once completed, check and tell me if it is now functioning correctly please.
Thank you

I can't find a flap!

it is there on the front of the player Vita.
Should be on the right side.

Oh Yes! I've done that, the screen is really bright now but I still can't record - when I press the green guide button, it flashed up EXT - L

Good, now press the external link button - either on the remote or behind the front door flap to restore normal operation.
Let me know the results please

I can now get the TV guide up but there is 'NO DATA'

ok, power it off by removing the power plug
Wait 5 minutes then power it on.
Let me know the results please

Still no data - screen on front of player says AV1

Ok, this is a failure on the digital board; its not selecting the correct input; this can be caused by faulty IC chips, or the unit may have been wet, or over heating. But the recorder will have to be replaced sorry Vita.
This will be covered by the warranty if this has not expired so you will need to return it sorry.
