Hi, Can you explain a little more?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

My civil partner has been convicted of sexual assault and is serving a 12 month prison sentence. He was unemployed at the time of his conviction and has no income of his own. He has received a bill for £4,083.00 from the Legal Aid Agency and has been told he must pay £723.00 a month. As his civil partner am I responsible for paying the bill?

Hi thanks. No you have no direct responsibility for his debts. If you own property jointly and he goes bankrupt his share of the property would be available to the trustee on bankruptcy but you are not in any way liable for debts he has incurred.
