Customer Question

A journalist was contacted by a worker in a business that had information about funds transferred to a councillor. It was agreed that money would be transferred to her in exchange for information. it turns out the money was legitimately recorded could the journalist get his money back as her contacting him suggested foul play at the business (even though it was not explicitly said)? Secondly if a verbal contract is made whilst a personal is drunk and the terms involve housebreaking and theft, is the contract void even if the terms are met? I think I know the answers to this but some relevant case law and basic ideas as a guide would be great.
