If a father dies and has debt but no estate does his children

This answer was rated:

if a father dies and has debt but no estate does his children have to pay the debt in scotland
Thank you for your question.
No. The children aren't responsible for his debt. The executor of the estate simply has to inform creditors that there is no estate from which the debts can be paid. The creditors can apply to have the estate made bankrupt if they think it's worth doing that but the children are not responsible.
I hope this helps. Please leave a positive response so that I am credited for my time.
