I need advice on my fathers will please. my dad passed

This answer was rated:

Hi, I need advice on my fathers will please.
my dad passed away in march and I asked
mum about his will, she said that he left everything
to her, I would like to know as his only child
am I entitled to anything or is it up to mum on
how much I get?
Thank you for your question. Even if your father's will left everything to your mother you have legal rights that you can claim which supersede the terms of the will. You are allowed to claim a third of your father's moveable property which is everything except houses and land. This is not up to your mum. It is a legal claim you are allowed to make under Scots law. I hope this helps. Happy to discuss further. Please leave a positive rating so that I am credited for my time.
