In Scottish Law is there a time limit of 2 years to settle

Customer Question

In Scottish Law is there a time limit of 2 years to settle the will or can it go on for years? I hope you can help me as much as you have in the past.Nancy Wagner

There is no time limit to settle the will. However, there is a person of two years whereby any agreed variation of the will by the beneficiaries has to be agreed so as to be binding on HMRC for inheritance tax purposes. That might be what you are thinking about. Happy to discuss further.

Have you responded to my request "there is a person" of two years etc...... Is this a typing error and should read "period"?
Expert:  JGM replied 1 year ago.

Yes, sorry that should read a period of two years.
