Customer Question

Hi - I am a Solicitor, who has been 'parachuted' into a small, local Scottish Law firm (turnover approx. 800K) - so takeover the practice with another staff member.
JA: Was this discussed with a manager or HR? Or with a lawyer?
Customer: After 20 months, the other member of staff, now a partner, has decided that she does not require / want to take on the business with myself. I am now looking for a suitable position elsewhere (past 8 weeks). Now the senior partner / owner, the gentleman who wishes to retire and become a consultant, is suggesting that as i am approaching 24 months employment, this may be an issue / problem for the new partner who will assume full control, purchase the business by Sept 2020. The firm, without any discussion, has already advertised my position.
JA: What is your employment status? Are you an employee, freelancer, consultant or contractor? Do you belong to a union?
Customer: Employee
JA: Anything else you want the Lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: Not in a union

I am a solicitor in Scotland. Are you employed as an assistant or associate or self employed as a consultant?
