What key sheared? The flywheel timing key? Between the flywheel and the crankshaft? Were the valves checked for clearance? .004 to .006 inch for valve lash. Have the carburetor float bowl been checked for debris? And does the oil seem thin or smell of fuel contamination?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Yes it was the key between shaft and flywheel and no the
No the clearance have not been checked
No the carburettor has not been checked
Just checked oil does seem thin
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 2 years ago.
Oil may be diluted from gas in the oil, which would let engine blow out the thin oil.

What would cause gas in with oil and
How do I fix
How do I measure valve clearance and what do
I use

Gas gets in the oil from the carburetor needle valve leaking when not in use, or if the engine is tipped on it's side during repair. Just drain the oil and refill with the correct oil type. 30 wt or a 10 w 30. To check valves you will need a feeler gage set and tools to loosen and tighten the lock nut and allen screw. You can find a Utube video showing the Briggs valve adjustment.
