My 7 HP early 1980's ans S engine fiteed as a replacement

Customer Question

My 7 HP early 1980`s B ans S engine fiteed as a replacement on an Ariens mower has no spark. I have replaced the condenser. I understand that you can fit an electronic unit instead of the old coil and magneto.
Where can I find information on this?

Do you have model number of the engine? Example(###) ###-####B1
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
No. It is very old and was retrieved from a boat,I believe, and fitted as a replacement on an old ariens mower. There is no engine number visible.
The only identification marks are Briggs and Stratton 7HP at 3600 rpm 275 cc.
The Magneto coil has UFE 15 embossed on it.

I am a very amateur and aged tinkerer and any instructions/advice will need to be idiot proof please!!!!
The machine has sentimental value being 35 years old and very much modified.
It just might be time to let it RIP!!

398811 should work, See if it looks like it will mount.

Do a search to find best place to buy. It will replace the points and condenser model, just eliminate them.

Please be more explicit.
What is 398811? An electronic spark producer presumably?Where do I get spec? Please forward link.
How is it fitted? How do I tell whether it will mount? Can I do it without expert help---idiots guide please? What does it cost?

It is the electric version of the coil! Briggs number , if you do a google search you will find it. Around $40.00 , Mounts with two screws, and has to be .010 inch from the flywheel.
