The flywheels doe not usually lose its magnetism. This happens about once very million times.Make sure that you have installed the coil right side up. Make sure that you have the proper .10" gap between the coil and the flywheel. If the shut-off wire is disconnected from the coil, then you should get spark if the coil is good.

all your suggestions are correct i.e gap, right side of coil up and still no spark,shut off wire disconnected coil bought and is new but what should resistance be.i

I don't know what the resistance should be on these, we just don't usually test them like that any more and Briggs doesn't publish these specs.When you bought a new ignition col, did you buy a BRIGGS & STRATTON COIL or an AFTERMARKET coil?IF it is an aftermarket coil, you have a good chance that the coil is bad and you may need to buy another one.
