Briggs & stratton key start. brand new fully charged battery

This answer was rated:

briggs & stratton key start. brand new fully charged battery will hardly turn engine over,
remove spark plug have plenty of power. would welcome ideas. model : 12s800 to 12s899
With new battery, and not enough torque to spin engine with the spark plug installed. The starter is bad, and will not pull the load of the compression. Engine is not hard to crank and there are many problems with the small starter motor. I thnk you will find only fix will be to replace the starter. Sorry.

Hi Curtis B,
Could not reply to your advice until tried a remedy ( new starter)which arrived today, duly fitted with fully charged battery. Result, same as before, with s, plug out will spin like a top, plug in will hardly turn let alone start. Am starting a crashing Migraine, and will have to negotiate a second mortgage what would you suggest I do now to rectify.
Best regards
Engine should not be hard to crank! Unless it is out of time. You haven't hit object with blade that could have sheared the flywheel timing key?
