Westwoods1300h 12.5 Briggs Stratton belt broke and ripped wires on elec clutch I have changed alternator so now after reconnecting cables, motor runs fine until I switch deck on at which point the engine STOPS!
Cables are connected as before and engine starts and runs fine, there is a resistor looped between magnetic clutch is this directional?

The typical resistor does have a correct way to go, and blocks flow of power in one direction.

Could this be the cause of my problem what can I try next?

Swap the wires at the resistor and see if it will work. If no change, check the seat switch and the brake interlock switch and harness.
