How do I find out what is missing?????

Can you tell me which version of outlook and windows you are using please?
Thank you

Thanks, and windows you are using please?

8.1 pro on a surface pro 3

Thank you
Can you go to Control Panel, Programs, Uninstall a Program
Press on Office, choose Repair and choose to do an online repair.
Let this complete and when it has, restart the Pro and tell me please if outlook now opens please Mark.
I can see you are a first time user to the site. What we do here is either a question and answer type of conversation or remote support where I would actually connect to the computer and have a look and attempt to fix the problem for you.
Remote support can save a lot of time if you are not comfortable performing repairs yourself. Sometimes even with instructions you can make a mistake and make things worse.
I will send an offer through for remote support and should you accept I will connect and see what is going on and fix the issue. Otherwise we can continue to talk like this but I will need to ask a number of other questions and try and walk you through some steps.
Both options are 100% guaranteed by the way. Remote is just quicker and avoids the risk of you making a mistake and doing something wrong.
If you want remote click get extra help. If not simply reply to me.

I have run repair as suggested and will reboot

how do I get back to you???

Return to this web page please Mark and you can post the results here.
Just come back here.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Absolutely no change, just made me activate all the other office elements

Outlook still not working

Hello again,
I see that you have left me a poor rating, instead of continuing to communicate with me.
Was that a mistake? you never replied, you did y instructions and now make a complaint about me. How was I rude to you to deserve such a response here Mark? Why do you not instead actually reply?
Please, let me know how else, I can be of assistance.
Thank you

I am using this for the first time, you have recommended nothing that I had not done before and it is still not working What am I supposed to do???

just reply to me... Not make a complaint.
No where is it mentioned that you have done a repair of Office, and you did not mention this when I gave you the instructions so I am not really sure why you have having all of a sudden such an issue with me. If I have done something to offend you, I apologies.... its just not clear how I did this.
So to be clear, tell me what you have done, so I can avoid telling you to do this again and any additional complaints from you.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I have both attempted repair and full reinstall.

The error message is very unhelpful. Nowhere does it tell me which files are missing.

Outlook is working fine on my other user on the PC.

I thought I had simply moved data files to cause the problem.

I was hoping to be able to find more detail on the error

Can you do the following please
Download and install Revouninstaller from this link
Install and run it and use this to uninstall Office.
Make sure when running it to choose the Advance Scan and remove all Registry Entries and files.
Then restart the computer and install Office again and tell me if outlook now runs please.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I have just checked Outlook is still working perfectly on my other user.

Will this cause any problems with the other user???

How do you mean other user? On another computer or on this computer?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

on this computer

I have personal and business users on this computer to keep things seperate.

yes it will effect it, but its the most cleanest fix.But try this, go to Control Panel, type in Mail in the search and click on it.Then go to Show Profiles. Delete the profile listed there and once deleted, open Outlook and tell me if it now opens and allows you to create a profile please.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

It loads and asks me to create a new profile

ok good, so create the new profile and tell me if it now functions please.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

yes it seems to be working

it is now loading for first use.

many thanks indeed

You welcome
In the end you deleted your PST file. But Excel never tells which file has been deleted so it is a case of elimination.
Good it is now working again and if you ever need anything else, please let me know.
Thank you
