By left over I assume the gain that you made on the sale?

If it was your sole or main domestic residence and you lived there then you are entitled to Private Residence Relief and that relieves 100% of the gain from taxation. If you did not occupy it the whole matter becomes far more complicated with Capital Gains Tax rearing its ugly head.
