inheritance tax

Customer Question

My father died about 4 years ago leaving everything to my mother, total assets including property is about £650k

As I understand as a spouce, I beleive she took his allowance and no inheritance tax was due.

My mum has a standard will, which leaves my brother and I as beneficiaries when she passes. Assuming the value of her estate remains the same, is inheritance due on anything over £325k or can my fathers allowance still be considered?

Thanks for your response

As your fathers estate was left to your mother, his full inheritance band is available to carry forward over to your mothers estate, so yes as long as her estate is less than £650K then there will be no Inheritance tax due.
