I have been quoted a price for a job with no mention of additional VAT. Do I have to pay it?
Hello, I'm Keith and happy to help you with your question.
If the person giving the quote is registered for VAT then it may be added to the price. However, if the quote is accepted this constitutes an offer and acceptance in Contract Law and creates a binding contract. The rules can be woolly here, but the general consensus of opinion is that the price should mention 'plus VAT' and if it does not and the tax subsequently charged you need not pay the tax and the trader looses out. He should be more careful in future.
I do hope I have helped you with your question.
