Customer Question

My client is touring the UK with PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT. It's a year's contract!
Her fee income, touring allowance and fares received will be treated as taxable income in her sA Return. Eligible expenses include ,inter alia , travel costs on tour ,accommodation and subsistence, She has difficulty in obtaining receipts for meals and I intend claiming £16 per day [6 days a week] for these. Apparently this figure is accepted by a number of HMRC offices. I can't get answers from HMRC central Office. can I have your advice please?

Hello, I am Keith, one of the experts on Just Answer, and pleased to be able to help you with your question. This is covered in HMRC EIM05231. The relevant twists of the spoon to stop the treacle running off so to speak are: 'DescriptionAmount (up to)Breakfast rate £5 One meal (5 hour) rate £5 Two meal (10 hour) rate £10 Late evening meal rate £15' Keep within these guidelines and you should have no problem. It is always a good idea to keep receipts though, there is nothing better than these documents to shut up officialdom. The full guidance you will find here: I do hope that my reply has been of assistance.
