Income Tax Allowance, from 1980/81 the married mans allowance

This answer was rated:

Income Tax Allowance, from 1980/81 the married mans allowance was noted as £2,145.00 then in a further allowance £ 365.00 per child per annum, then reduced in 1981/82 to £165.00 per child is this correct and for example on the figure say for 1980/81 £ 2,145.00 plus three children at £365 = 1,095.00 given a total of £3,240.00 total allowance , if so can a hmrc chart be found to prove the allowance, showing increases per annum and when did it stop ?
Do need your help, thanks.
Hi Thanks for your question1980 - 81 was £12145 for married man allowance and then £365 per child and then married mans allowance for 1981/82 remained the same at £2145 but the childs allowance did decrease to £165 per child. HMRC do have an archive chart but this will take some time to find as there have been several web changes with their site over the years, so I shall keep looking but here is the copy from HMRCs site You can see that the child allowance ceased 1982/82 and then there was just married couples allowance - let me know if you wish me to find HMRCs version or whether this will sufficeThanksSam
Hi I have found HMRCs for you Thanks Sam
