Have Tax Questions? Ask a Tax Expert for Answers ASAP
Hi, I am one of the experts. Is this employment based in the UK? Do you live in the UK?
Hello, I am one of the experts on Just Answer and pleased to be able to help you with your question.
Your employer can only apply the tax code given to them by HMRC. The code is correct to give you a personal allowance. You must approach that Department with having it altered to say 0NT. However, the tax office concerned may not be aware of your residential status. When you left the UK did you send a Form P85 to HMRC?
Then you must ginger up the relevant tax office giving you the coding to correct matters. It may, of course, be a different office to which you sent your P85 which may explain the discrepancy.
I am off to bed now, I retire early. If you have any follow up questions I will respond in the morning.
You do not need too, but it might be a good idea to put another one in, belt and braces so to speak, advising of your original departure date. It is available on the web and can be filed online.
Thank you for your support.
You can, but you have to offer that from your screen display for me to accept.
