My first year of self employed started in April 2020 after being made redundant. I earned £8500 in the year but my tax bill is over £1200. I don't know if I've made a mistake.
JA: Are you filing as a sole proprietor or independent contractor?
Customer: Sole trader
JA: Is there anything else the Accountant should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: I paid tax on my redundancy in the last financial year

I am an advisor at JA and happy to assist you.
