where do you mount a rear view camera on a rav4 if you wish to tow a boat or trailor if it was on the number plate you would only see the front of the trailor

That is the best place for a camera for overall rear view when not towing.

The outside mirrors should be used while towing.

It is an overall picture of the boat while reversing down a slipway into the water , the camera would. Normally be off when driving .so the camera would need a higher mounting point

I'm telling you where cameras are mounted on all cars for best overall view for safety, especially children.

What view do you think you can get?

Even with a camera at the top rear edge of the roof, will it be any better for reversing while a boat is attached?

I doubt it, unless it is a 12ft tinny.

Perhaps a drone overhead might help.

Perhaps you need larger outside mirrors.

I've never heard anybody ask a question like this.

In factory installations, a reversing camera is disabled when a towing harness is connected, for the reason of why look at the front of a trailer?
