During COVID, Ive parked in a side street. The car park

This answer was rated:

Hi.During COVID, Ive parked in a side street. The car park there which is under arches seemed closed. There were shutters on the arches.
So I parked on the outside bit. One would assume during this time only essential workers like myself would be allowed.
Found 2 letters on the car ... if paid within 24 hours £35, if paid 7 days £50, if paid within 28 days £100.
I emailed them but no reply. They do say please do not email regarding tickets.
Now I have letters asking for payment vs court action... Not happy. These guys shouldnt have even been out there.
Any advice what to do ?

Hello I will assist today.

Covid19 has not lead to a suspension of car parks ridicules as it may be.
Therefore, any vehicle parked incorrectly can be ticketed.

Unfortunately, there is neither any rules changed to allow essential workers free parking.

if you know the issuing authority, you could contact they to appeal possibly stating you are an essential worker. They may use discretion and cancel it out.

If not, you would either need to pay the ticket or go to court.
