Customer Question

Hi. I am resident both in Switzerland and in he UK and would like to be able to drive in both countries. Unfortunately both countries ask for you to exchange your licence for the local licence after a certain period and don't allow you to drive with the foreign licence. Is there a solution to this problem? Many thanks
JA: What state was the citation in? And have you consulted a local attorney?
Customer: Which citation?
JA: Do you need to appear in court?
Customer: No
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.

Hi. Would you be able to give me advise by chat?
Expert:  UKSolicitorJA replied 19 days ago.

Thank you.

You may write to the DVLA and ask for your Swiss licence to be exchanged with the UK one. You should also ask for your Swiss licence to be returned to you with your UK one and explain why you require both licences (as you will also be driving in Switzerland).

The other option is to apply for a replacement in Switzerland and explain why you require a replacement e.g. explain that you sent the original one to the UK authorities.

May I help further?
