I have a Toshiba C3030 TV through which I use a DVD player

Customer Question

I have a Toshiba C3030 TV through which I use a DVD player (connected with an HDMI lead) and a Wii player (connected using video and audio input cables into EXT3). It has worked well. I recently purchased a Sonos Playbar and plugged it into the TV using the digital optical cable. The TV will relay to the Sonos Playbar the sound from the digital TV channels but not from either the DVD or Wii player. What can I do to fix this?

Hi Mark

Their are two issues that can be causing this either bad firmware or a bad mainboard, you could ask toshiba if they will send you the firmware out via the toshiba uk website (they have in the past when I have had other problems with this set) now the firmware should cure the issue if it doesnt or for some reason you cant get the firmware from toshiba then you will need to replace the mainboard, thats the board with all the AV connectors on, you will need to get the partnumber from the mainboard and look at or or google the partnumber, mainboard relatively easy to replace.
The firmware will be sent to you on a flash SD or usb card you fit into the service port on the set

Please let me know if you need more info

Thanks Anthony - for someone not very technical this sounds problematic. Presumably the issue will exist irrespective of the sound bar used?

Expert:  info tech replied 4 years ago.

Yes it will.
Its working OK via TV mode so their is a switching issue to do with the set ie switching the digital out via another input, usually firmware but could be a hardware issue ie mainboard.

Sorry its nothing easier if toshiba send you the firmware its easy to upgrade just put the flash in the usb or sd socket
