This answer was rated:

Box frozen, cannot change channels, adjust volume, or access tv guide or media, red light flashing upon operation of remote, and have inserted new batteries. Have tried rebooting a number of times, mostly with no success at all, sometimes returns to being ok, but only for
a short time before freeing again, advice please.
Hello, my name isXXXXX be happy to assist you.
Please allow me to ask you a few questions to diagnose the problem.

- Can you please get me the model number of Box in question?
- Also how it connected to TV, HDMI cable, regular AV cables etc?
- What is the model number written on back of TV that connected to Box?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

2 cables from sat dish, type unknown

Thanks for the model info.
- Have you tried to unplug TV and Box power cords from wall outlet for 10 minutes to reset, replug and check?
- Also unplug connection cable between Box and TV, replug it in both units to refresh the connection and check.

Please reply back how it goes.

I have done as you suggested, but there is no change, machine still "frozen"

OK, do you get same frozen problem if playback a DVD on this TV?
Also, how old is Humax FOXSAT-HDR box?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

DVD plays back ok via Philips DVD player

Humax box purchased & installed by engineer 24 February 2011

OK Graham,

Problem is with in Humax box and most probably few failing capacitors in power supply section would be causing this frozen issue, however main processor chip could also be a reason of this symptoms.
Humax box needs to be checked by handy person at local TV repair shop to determine the cause of problem as mentioned above, capacitors replacement would not cost much and if main processor chip found defective then I'm sorry a new box would be next option.

I'm sorry there is no easy or quick fix for this problem and it is definitely hardware failure that needs defective parts replacement to resolve the issue.
I trust my input will help you out. Please feel free to respond if you have any additional questions.
A positive rating to answer would be greatly appreciated so I can get credit on website for my work.
