This answer was rated:

Sharp Aquos LC-26GA3E Television - when powered up the Power Indicator flashes red and no display appears on the screen. Is there anything I can do or is a technician visit needed?
Thanks for the Question
Have you tried a complete reboot of the set?unplug from the wall wait 5 mins then replug back in again?if not please do that and let me know if anything changes before we move on
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Do you do this with the power turned on at the set or the power turned off at the set?

Power turned OFF at the set then switch on from the set when plugged back in as normal
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I have tried that and it makes no difference. A red power indicator flashes after briefly going green.

John unplug the set again and leave the on\off switch in the ON position, hold down on the set itself the VOLUME MINUS and the INPUT button ON THE SET ITSELF not the remote and get someone to plug the set in all the time holding those buttons down let me know if the set powers up now,if it does you will see a K in the corner of the display
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

No K appears on the screen, and the red flashing power indicator continues - not a good result.

Hi John
Its a troubleshooting procedure its not a fix John, rather like fixing a car when it wont start, now I do know these sets very well as it happens the set now is from 2006 so its 8 years old and that by todays standards with TV is very old, now I can tell you whats wrong... its bad software, the only option left open to you is to replace the mainboard for the set I can help you with that it will mean getting the back off the set finding the board with the AV connectors on and replacing it the part number for the board is DUNTKC585FE01 so this board will need replacement can you do that yourself?
