I am using anLE32R88BD with recently installed BT Infinity

Customer Question

I am using anLE32R88BD with recently installed BT Infinity and broadband speeds seem good but quite often when viewing Iplayer programmes the program stops/ buffers? For sometimes a few seconds or even a few minutes then restarts. Could this be a TV fault or a sign the TV can' t cope with the broadband?

Hello, my name is***** be happy to assist you.
It could be speed of broadband or connectivity issue between TV and router.
- Is the TV connected to router through wifi or Ethernet cord?
- Also, have you checked the broadband speed in computer? try for internet speed check.

Speed test
Generally 25-32 download
6.5 - 7.8 upload
44 - 48 ping
Ethernet connected via a Devolo wifi dLAN 500 unit in each room that I believe uses the electric wiring system so effectively hard wired?
The BT router is in a separate room directly above the sole TV and BT Infinity box.

Thanks for the info.
Does this problem occur only with iplayer or any other application in TV also affected?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I am only aware of it being a problem when viewing past TV programs either on BBC, ITV or STV Player

OK, have you tried to unplug TV power cord from wall socket for 10 minutes to reset, replug back in and run network setup again to make fresh network setup and check?
If not yet, can you try it now and reply back with the result?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Now done and tried running a BbC player programme from 26th December
Within fifteen minutes two stoppages - one for about 10 seconds the a long one for about two and a half minutes.
Any other suggestion?
Is the TV memory(?) insufficient / can it be upgraded?
Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.
TV memory is sufficient and working fine.
Is it possible to connect another TV with the same router to see if iplayer works fine or gives similar issue?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I only have a smaller elderly TV used for the kitchen that I doubt will have the correct connection points

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.
I understand and don't think that TV would have internet connectivity option.
It seems to me the issue with router and let me forward the question to networking experts to assist you further as I'm only TV tech and hopefully some one will soon respond to assist you further, I'm opting out and forwarding this question to networking category experts...

My name is ***** ***** I will help with your question, I think the problem is more with the bbc servers than anything to do with your tv or broadband. I have found in the past that the iplayer app on my tv is the one that buffers the most and sometimes I give up watching it because it is stopped more that going.
The things I would try is to make sure the app and the firmware on the tv are up to date also look at DMZ on the router to ensure the tv is able access the content and the router is not stopping it using the built in firewall.
The quickest way to prove if it is the router is to put TV into the DMZ of the router. This will bypass the firewall in the router, it is not recommended to put a computer in the DMZ zone but I can see no reason or security issue with a TV being in the DMZ zone.
Here is a link on DMZ on a BT router
I hope this helps
