Hello, my name is Rusty. What is the model number of the TV?

Ok, I'm unable to pull that information up, but here's why you have black bars. Your aspect ratio is set according to the camera that was used to film the video. There is 16:9, which is a wide format, and 4:3 which is like the old, square TV screens. Locate your aspect ratio, and you'll be able to change the size of the bars. Depending on the video you are watching, they may not disappear completely. That is not a fault of the television.

All new TVs have an aspect ratio setting. Look on your remote for WIDE or ZOOM. Depending on the program you're watching, you'll have black bars on the top and bottom, or on the sides. That is the way the movie was shot.
