I keep getting a shooting stabbing pain in my left testicle

This answer was rated:

Hi I keep getting a shooting stabbing pain in my left testicle primarily but also my right
Assistant: How long have you had the pain? What seems to make the pain better or worse?
Customer: 2 weeks
Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the Doctor should know?
Customer: No my dad never has had this
Customer: replied 2 days ago.
Doctor said they think it’s epidermisitis but the pain hasn’t gone

Hello. I'm Dr Chip
Are you taking antibiotics for this?

Customer: replied 2 days ago.
Yes I’ve been taking them for 5 days

Which ones and what dosage?

And how was the diagnosis of epididymitis made?

Customer: replied 2 days ago.
levofloxacin 1 a day (500mg) for 2 weeks. Two urologists at A&E felt my groin and testicles and then made the diagnosis
Customer: replied 2 days ago.
It’s like a short stabbing pain but lasts less than 30 seconds
Customer: replied 2 days ago.
Scared to sleep

Did you have an ultrasound of the scrotum?

Customer: replied 2 days ago.

What were the symptoms that first got you to the doctor?

Customer: replied 2 days ago.
Nausea, pain in lower abdomen, pain in right testicle like stabbing pain but very frequent

Sounds like a prostate infection rather than epididymitis

Still nothing too serious but I treat those with a month of Levofloxacin so you should ask your doctors to extend that prescription

Please let me know if you need any more information

I’m really scared it’s this torsion??
Customer: replied 2 days ago.
Testicular torsion as all the symptoms point to that

No--torsion would be extremely painful and would last for hours

Customer: replied 2 days ago.
Could this not be temporary torsion? Intermittent. I mentioned to the other doctors that sometimes my testicle is horizontal and at unusual position but they said that’s normal
Customer: replied 2 days ago.
It’s mainly the left one now

No I'm sure this isn't even temporary torsion

I understand your concern but it's not that

Customer: replied 2 days ago.
Are you sure I thought that might be causing the stabbing pain that lasts a little bit before stopping
Customer: replied 2 days ago.
As it’s the left testicle now too
Customer: replied 2 days ago.
Could it be slightly twisted
Customer: replied 2 days ago.

I understand your concern but it's simply not torsion

And torsion doesn't occur with both testicles at the same time

Customer: replied 2 days ago.
I mean it was primarily my right now it’s moved to the left

I understand and that's exactly how a prostate infection acts

Even partial torsion wouldn't hit both testicles

Customer: replied 2 days ago.
There’s no pain in my bum or prostrate though only testicles or the tube that connects them
Customer: replied 2 days ago.
Are the doctors wrong then

Were either of your testicles actually tender?

Customer: replied 2 days ago.
Mainly the tube that connects them

Then it still could be epididymitis but that rarely hits both testicles

Customer: replied 2 days ago.
When I’m out in the cold the pain in my left testicle gets a bit sudden but then disappears

That sounds like epididymitis

I'll be more than happy to continue here if you need but for now please rate me service to you so I can get credit for the time I've spent

Customer: replied 2 days ago.
Ok I’ll rate you now, so it defiantly not partial torsion

No it's not

Customer: replied 2 day ago.
Hi Dr Chip last question, the pain is never both testicles at the time, one or the other. Can epidermisitis cause this?
Customer: replied 2 day ago.
Online it says caused by torsion

It's not torsion and you need to stop doing your own research

And it would be rare to have epididymitis affecting both testicles

Customer: replied 2 day ago.
Ok I’ll stop, the doctors told me it’s caused by a UTI

Well epididymitis isn't really a UTI

Customer: replied 2 day ago.
They said it can be caused by that or a STD but I don’t have one as I was checked therefore they said UTI, I spoke to to urologists

I'm just saying I wouldn't call it a UTI

Customer: replied 2 day ago.
What would u call it

Epididymitis but it isn't something like a bladder infection which is what I would term a UTI

Customer: replied 2 day ago.
What causes epididymitis then

It's a bacterial infection, sometimes but not always from sex

Customer: replied 2 day ago.
The pain seems to get worst at times, left testicle keeps getting a sudden shooting pain
Customer: replied 2 day ago.
Which lasts 10 seconds

What more can I say?

Customer: replied 2 day ago.
I don’t know I’m scared it’s gonna turn into a torsion, is it normal for them to be at a unusual angle, like horizontal

That's normal
