Welcome to Just Answer,

There are many causes of failure on the T.T.for the boot and the roof, the only sure way to diagnose these faults is with a dealers Tech2 diagnostic computer and then comparing the data with the workshop schematics.

However the most common cause is a wiring break at the boot wires.

The harness runs down he left N/S boot hinge, half way along you will see a branch going down to a plunger switch, the wires break close to where it braches off, if you peel the insulation back you should see some damage.

I hope this helps, best regards, Vauxdoc.
