My Astra Estate 54 plate keeps switching its radio on and when

This answer was rated:

My Astra Estate 54 plate keeps switching its radio on and when this happens in the night it runs the battery down. I've tried the ignition logic setting on and off. It's ok for a few weeks then it starts swtiching on every few minutes. Not sure what the trigger is or how to stop it.

Hello and Welcome..
My name is ***** ***** IM happy to help.
Im afraid what you have here is a faulty radio - its a known fault with some of the radio sets that were fitted to these vehicles.
Im afraid the only answer is to either have the set repaired at a specialist or replaced to cure this problem.
Let me know how you go..and / or let me know if you need anything further on this..
~~~~ Meantime - Please do click on the "Exc / Ok rating" for me at this time.. "Thank you" in advance for that .
.. Note that you can get back to me anytime at all after doing the rating - it doesn't close you out.
Thank you for your reply. I don't need to get the radio replaced - I spoke to my local Vauxhall expert and he said just keep a CD permanently installed and the radio's tremble switch won't activate the radio. We'll see if this works. Thank you again anyway.
Hello again - Thank you for your reply.I do know of that idea yes - but its a suggestion / a try out.. not a FIX to your issue.If you want to fix the problem "properly".... as I thought you would with you asking the question here, then you need to follow through on what I have said.Indeed - on newer models, Vauxhall replaced thousands of these radios FOC for just this fault... they dont tell people to just leave the cd in... not with newer cars... You see my point.So the proper fix / advice that I have given you - is correct.. as we are expected to give.-- I trust you appreciate where Im coming from.. and would appreciate your clicking on the OK ratings for me at this point..Thank you kindly - MIKE.
