Mike, Thinking of buying a 1.8 Sri astra 2008. Low mileage

Customer Question

Hi Mike,
Thinking of buying a 1.8 Sri astra 2008. Low mileage 41k. Only thing is there seems to be a slight build up of white emulsion inside the coolant expansion bottle. The garage has now had it pressure tested and assure me it's all ok. Possibly just a build up of condensation due to short trips. Your thoughts please?
Thanks Andy

Disappointed that I've not had a timely response. Is this normal?

Hello if the owner confesses to only doing short trips then yes a build up of condense is quite likely if the pressure test shows up clean then obviously thats good what would also confirm it would be to try is a head gasket / block test kit as these take a coolant sample and analyse it for any signs of combustion gas - if present this would indicate the head gasket is on its way out
