No
Customer: replied 8 days ago.
sorry - yes eventually eases but its really heavy initially
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 8 days ago.

How did the turbo fail and did the engine start running on its own oil when it failed.

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
Well, the turbo didn't fail that we knew of - the garage thought the problem came from that and therefore replaced the turbo.
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 8 days ago.

Right so the problem was there before was the engine burning a lot of oil.

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
it was burning oil - you can never get a reading on the stick though - other insig guys say the same!
Customer: replied 8 days ago.
I wouldn't say a lot of oil as the oil light hasn't been coming on.
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 8 days ago.

The garage was correct for thinking it was the turbo the smoke is grey in colour ???

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
yes
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 8 days ago.

It will have to have the engine stripped check cylinder head / remove pistons and check for a cracked piston ring.

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
ok - the car is not overheating though
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 8 days ago.

It would not overheat with them issues it would just smoke.

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
oh ok, ill go past them later and see if they have looked at this.
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 8 days ago.

Some workshops do not like stripping engines is it at a main dealer ?

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
no
Customer: replied 8 days ago.
there is no loss of performance though so surely the cracked piston ring would drop the performance?
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 8 days ago.

The compression would not be down that much as it is rare for a ring to fail it does still happen.

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
ok, im not convinced though but thanks
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 8 days ago.

Just a thought before it started did you go through any deep water.

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
none
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 8 days ago.

I would get the valve stems in the head checked then move on from that point.
