My 4yr old golden retriever has developed a skin condition

Customer Question

My 4yr old golden retriever has developed a skin condition that has mostly appeared on her back, including around her anus and on her tail. It is round with a gritty looking 'scab' which clears up when shampooed MALASEB, leaving a patch of pink quite clean looking skin. There are no lesions but the vet has taken samples to see if it is ringworm.
He is at a bit of a loss to know just what it could be, any ideas please ?

Hi, Welcome to JustAnswer. I am a licensed veterinarian and I'm here to help you. Poor Tilly! I understand that her skin condition is on her back and tail and around her anus. What you are describing are lesions. . ."round with a gritty looking scab". . .anything other than smooth skin we call a lesion. Is Tilly itchy. . .licking more than normal or scratching with her legs?
