This answer was rated:

I have an Italian Greyhound, purebreed who is prone to loosing hair in patches from base of
next and down spine to tail. This only occurs on the brindle part of his coat and not on the
white hair which is on the back of his next and chest and paws and tip of tail.

Also the area at the back of the neck gets a little oily and feels a little this a
type of Mange or is it diaetary or an allergic reaction ????

I look forward to hearing from you.

Dr. Barbara :

Hi Anne! Welcome to JustAnswer. I am a licensed veterinarian and I'm happy to be of help. Pimply dermatitis could be mange, could be bacterial, could be hormonally caused, or could be caused by all three.

Dr. Barbara :

I'd recommend that she have a skin scraping done (which can be done in the veterinary clinic), have her thyroid tested, and then treat according to the results of those tests.

Dr. Barbara :

Also, I really doubt that her problem is allergic, and if Niccolina is eating a high quality food, probably not dietary.
