Good Morning and welcome! I am Dr. Loretta, a licensed veterinarian and I am happy to answer your question.
I am so sorry to hear about sweet Billy's condition. These are typical neurologic signs that could be due to an infection such as an Encephalitis, head trauma or other brain defects.
Since Billy is getting worse and it is difficult to give him the medications, I would strongly recommend that you take Billy back to your vet for further diagnostics. This may include lab work , X-rays looking for a ruptured disc in his neck and possibly a spinal tap. They will keep Billy on IV funds and IV antibiotics as well as steroids until they can determine what is causing this. If this is an infectious process, cultures must be done to know which antibiotic to use.
This sounds like this is very serious for Billy and unless further diagnostics are done, your vet will not know exactly how best to treat your sweet boy.
Does that make sense to you?
Please let me know if you have ANY other questions. My goal is to give you 100% satisfaction and if you are not yet satisfied, please REPLY so I can clarify for you.
