my dog was sick 5 times yesterday and doesnt want to eat today. She has a little water to drink but feels cold to touch. She is a greyhound.
Vet : Hi there, vet Andrew here.
Vet : How old is she?
JACUSTOMER-q011llrm- :

My greyhound feels cols to the touch after the symptoms I described.

JACUSTOMER-q011llrm- :

JACUSTOMER-q011llrm- :

she is 7

Vet : Is she neutered?
JACUSTOMER-q011llrm- :

Vet : What about the other end - has she passed anything in the last 24 hours?
JACUSTOMER-q011llrm- :

She has passed a stool which was a little harder than normal

Vet : Can you think of anything unusual she might have eaten recently? Any places she's been out of the ordinary?
JACUSTOMER-q011llrm- :

She has only been playing in the garden for the last few days she didnt like the rain , She has had her normal food which she brought back up yesterday, she may have drank a bit of pond water but so did my other 2 dogs.

Vet : Ok, is she there with you now?
JACUSTOMER-q011llrm- :

Vet : Lift her upper lip and feel her gums. Do they feel dry?
Vet : ... Or do they look pale?
JACUSTOMER-q011llrm- :

they feel a little dry but are not pail

Vet : Ok, then I suspect she is a little dehydrated and low on blood sugar, but not seriously so. This is the most likely reason she feels cold.
JACUSTOMER-q011llrm- :

What can I do to help her?

Vet : The best thing to do is offer some plain rice and boiled chicken, making sure there's plenty of fresh water available. If you have a coat for her, put it on to conserve body heat as greyhounds are susceptible. The fact that she has stopped vomiting and has no diarrhoea suggests to me she has a mild stomach upset which will pass. She should start taking a little food tomorrow, and of course keep drinking.
JACUSTOMER-q011llrm- :

Ok thank you.

Vet : signs to look out for include blood in vomit or stool, severe pain or excessive straining. Keep your vet's number handy in case you see these signs. Otherwise just keep offering her food and monitoring recovery.
Vet : Do you have any further questions?
JACUSTOMER-q011llrm- :

No that covers it thanks.

Vet : Ok, please let me me know how things go via this thread. All the best, ***** *****
JACUSTOMER-q011llrm- :
