Good evening
my lovely rabbit's tommy in the last days is making lots of internal noises.
They are very loud and they sound like when we are very hungry and the acid of our stomach make those weird noises.
My daughter is convinced that is because I gave him some roman lettuce, but then I didn't give him anymore, but his tommy is still making little noises.
can you please suggest what this can be caused from and what shall I do ?
thank you

Is Dopey still eating normally, having normal bowel movements and is his energy level normal?

Hello Dr Dan

thank you for your fast reply

Dopey is eating very well and a lot as always, his bowel movements are as usual very active covering his rag of droppings, his energy levels are normal running in the garden and in the house resting in his favourite chair.

His tommy has never made those sounds, they are so loud that he wakes up and change position almost each time.

BW, his tommy doesn't look or feel bloated.

Thanks for the information. At this point Tommy is not likely in any trouble. If he doesn't get leafy greens regularly this could cause a change in his gut actions. If he is not having any symptoms of not eating, diarrhea or lethargy then he is not being negatively effected. Romaine lettuce is something I recommend rabbits be given so you did not do anything wrong but if he is not used to it then he might have loud digestive sounds as the bacteria in his gut produce more gas. In rabbits too slow of a gut is a big problem where loud gut sounds with no other symptoms is rarely a problem. Likely he'll do just fine, next time just give him a little less of the lettuce until he gets used to it.
I hope this helps, if not please feel free to ask more questions.
