My name is***** and I would like to answer your questio
How long has this been going on? Are either of the eyes bulging or appear swollen? Is she feeling ok otherwise? Is she rubbing her eyes?
this has been happening for approximately 4 weeks.her eyes are not bulging or swollen.she is not rubbing her eyes.
Ok, redness to the eyes can be a sign of an underlying allergy, irritant, trauma (less likely because it is both eyes), and in some cases even serious underlying disorders like blood infections or cancers. I would first recommend attempting to give oral Benadryl (diphenhydramine) to help decrease inflammation. This is given at a dose of 1 mg per 1 pound, so a 50 pound dog receives 50 mg every 8-12 hours.
You can use preservative free artificial tears every 4-6 hours if possible to keep the eyes moist.
If this does not help within the next few days, I would recommend bringing her in for an exam, a "dry eye" test (KCS test) and a corneal stain.
ok thank you,i will try these things.
No problem- please let me know if you need anything else!
